Rotterdam Swimming (SG) is a new team formed from the clubs Zwemmen Rotterdam Zuid, Z&PC Rotterdam & the swimteam Racing Club.
The collaboration consists of the competitive swimming members of Racing Club, Z&PC Rotterdam and Zwemmen Rotterdam Zuid training together. Furthermore, the swimmers compete together under the name Rotterdam Swimming.
Transferring from swimming lessons to competitive swimming in a swim club can be a huge step for children and their families. That is why Rotterdam Swimming has the Swim Academy. Here, children learn the primary aspects of the different swim strokes, including the starts and turns. The emphasis lies in mastering technique and having fun, not on competing or winning. Rotterdam Swimming applies the Canadian-developed LTAD plan to all its swim training because it encompasses all the aspects of a sporter´s long-term development, including coaching, training, competitive skills and performance.
Minioren swimmers up to 11 years are primarily trained in technical aspects. When they reach the age of 12, they can enter the ‘road to the top’ based on a healthy balance between their commitment to the sport and their duties at school and home. Junioren swimmers aged 12 to 14/16, specifically train their aerobic system but also start to build up their anaerobe abilities. Coaches use individual goal cards to monitor the growth of every swimmer (ratio 1:8).
At the ages of 17-18 (for men) and 15-16 (for women), Rotterdam Swimming swimmers start to specialize in a specific stroke and distance. The aerobe and anaerobe systems are improved and the technical abilities perfected. At this stage, the swimmer receives even more personal coaching than before (ratio 1:6).
Senior swimmers (men 18+ and women 16+) work with an individual program adjusted entirely to the swimmer’s needs.
Sports monitoring and medical support is integrated into all levels of swim training at Rotterdam Swimming
The training at Rotterdam Swimming is in Dutch and English. For more information, please contact: info@rotterdamswimming.nl
